It works in partnership with economic development agencies to secure the economic regeneration of the local area and to promote competitiveness and economic growth. In order to achieve these aims, its objectives are:
• To identify, through research and experience, key issues and opportunities influencing sustainable growth within the local economy;
• To assist in the preparation and review of the Economic Strategies and to participate in the implementation of the Strategic Action Plan, The Local Development Framework.
• To act as a focus for local partnership action on economic regeneration, including initiatives to secure funding
• To act as a lobby group on economic issues
• To promote the image of manufacturing and to address local skills mismatch through innovative education and training schemes;
• To establish links with other organisations on matters of mutual interest and concern affecting the wider economy;
• To promote local business both within the UK and abroad;
• To assist companies with various business support products and services through Sussex Enterprise, DTI and European Funding
